About this user

I am an outsider/self-taught visual artist/performance artist and archivist/curator. I had earned a Master of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.S.) degree specializing in Archives/Preservation and Rare Books Librarianship, a B.A. in History of Art with a focus in Modern/Contemporary Art & Buddhist art, an Associate of Arts degree with a focus in Humanities and Mental Health Services, and I'm currently working on a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies Museum Studies.
The artwork on my site are works-on-paper studies I had created for a series of paintings and drawings titled "(Re)Interpreting the work of Pieter Bruegel the Elder and the Art of the Middle Ages for a Contemporary Society" during an artist fellowship residency I was a recipient of in Dresden, Germany. My artwork explores current socio-political issues and events (i.e., racial and ethnic issues; religion; cultural issues; local/national/international conflicts) by juxtaposing historical and contemporary images/icons/symbols. I am presently working on two new painting series; the first is a continuation of my medieval series, and the second are a series (my version) of self portraits exploring the chaos and cacophony that fills my gray matter. "It ain't always pretty, but it will sure make you think..."
I am a free-lance curator and had been a assistant curator for a National Performance Network (NPN) site called the Third Avenue Performance Space (T.A.P.S.) in Columbus, Ohio. And was the founder/(co)director of two poetry/performance art groups/projects called "Gorilla Theatre and Co." and New Artistic Incidents, Vision, and Experimentations (N.A.I.V.E.) in Columbus, Ohio.
