No offence meant, but there were too much embellishments at the cost of laya. They totally lost the tALa at the charaNam "pRaNavAkAra divya vimAnam".

As with other Dikshithar kRitis, DKP/DKJ's stands unmatched.

The master-composer beautifully weaves in the sthala vRiksha (mango tree) with the sthala purANa (how ambAL took the form of a peahen).

Jayanthi is no doubt an excellent musician. But I wish vainikas like her stop using intrusive contact mikes; they really distort the natural sound of the instrument, although they amplify and bring across the subtle gamakas to the rasika's ears. @yesemkay - You're absolutely right. Dikshithar's majestic and descriptive charaNams are what make his compositions unique. The pRAsa used in this composition is stunning - it is sad that the sisters didn't sing the charaNam.
