I've seen lots of thoroughbreds race great. Don't just say that quarter horses, paints and appaloosas are the only good horses to pick.

I guess if that's true a lot of top barrel racing horses shouldn't be barrel racing then.

You don't need to stop your horse straight. Going as fast as you are, stopping straight is harder on them than slowing down while turning. Everyone does it differently. @HighRewards A saddle can most definitely be too small, there are different sizes in the bars of a saddle. This is not about the seat size, this is about the bars on it. There's not just one fit for horses, some horses are wider, some are narrower. Hence the saddles are different sizes

@StormValleyStables there are a bunch of non bulky western saddles. The roping saddle are the bulkiest, but there's loads of barrel saddles that let you feel your horse. Ofcourse less saddle lets you feel your horse more. for that particular thing I'd still prefer to ride bareback.

@Braveanimal Hoe gaat het nu met barrel racen? Iets beter? een goede oefening dat ook leuk is voor jou en je paard is pole bending. Het helpt met lead changes and het is altijd leuk om wat anders te doen :)
