@ElVaah Right on for the Dianogah mention. First time I ever heard of them (in a Vinyl Ink Records update in 1996) the review name-dropped Tortoise. And this song is probably the reason. The resemblance is uncanny. Dianogah may be inactive at the moment but I got to see them in Philly in 1997...

These songs and the Black Flag material were the only reasons to see "The Decline Of Western Civilization".

Funny, NYC Mayhem pops into my head... but I gotta say these guys come close to kicking their ass.

Believe it or not, the word "grunge" was applied by music journalists to this band well before the Seattle explosion. Interesting when you think that Butch Vig was the common denominator. "HARD AS A BALD FIST OF LOVE"...

This album is the first thing I ever heard by Killdozer. Bought the cassette when I was 14 years old. Thank God I hung on to it and kept mining the underground...

Best song off this EP!! Breaks my heart that I didn't see them live in the early 90's. We even had their albums at my college radio station, but I didn't clue in until a couple years after they broke up. This is one of those bands that if you snoozed, you lost.

This is such an awesome album. I like it more than their first. Just wish the mix was better. Albini kinda dropped the ball on this one.

NICE pairing of music and images. The Freeze is from my hometown. And man, we need a reissue of that Tales Of Terror album so badly! (Not to mention Curtains and Blood Diner on DVD...!!!)

I saw Golden 1/97 in Philly, 5/00 in SF, and 8/02 in Cambridge, MA. Was great to always have a snapshot of an ever-evolving band. Would love to see more live footage like this.

I still say, as someone who got into HC in 1987 and liked Tim's earlier stuff (No Escape, etc.) that this band sounds like it's trying too hard. Their sound gets tiresome after a short time. I bought this album in 1998 - not sure why - but it definitely didn't do it for me...

@dav4305 ACTUALLY they did have guitar at this point. This recording is the pre- Man Is The Bastard band CHARRED REMAINS (even though it was included on the MITB CD, y'know interchangeable name...) Shawn Connell played guitar on this session, released originally on the split 7" EP with PINK TUR...

The original 12" split LP has inserts with INSANE artwork. And this is my favorite MITB "session" they ever did. (It's titled "Banish The Shitbreed".) Timeless and inspirational as hell.

@eastcoastbillyc Great stuff! This is from the "lost period" between Rabid Reaction and M.L.C. that produced songs like "Die For Life" (on the Token Bones CD). Interesting to hear how much different this song was in its infancy. I'm hoping more material like this gets posted.

@qwatto Sorry, but Slint had NOTHING to do with "grunge". I will concede that this song is their most "math-rock" besides "Glenn".

Fine Day's demo is absolutely incredible - surpasses anything that came out on the 7" or "January" CD. I still cannot understand why the demo tracks were not put on the CD. My copy is a first generation dub, but it still sounds great. Guess I will have to try and post it.
