I've always loved this song! Patsy Sledd opened for George Jones and Tammy Wynette in the 70s. Patsy made alot of Tammy clothes during that time as well!

This was released in 1975 right around the final break up of Jones and Wynette. You can hear the pain in George's voice and see the sadness in his eyes. "The Door" is one painful masterpiece!

Somehow I had the 45 of this version. Everybody raved about MJ's record, but I liked this one better. More sadness and emotion I guess.

As a disc jockey in the late 70s when this came out, I loved the song and played it often! However, the record didn't get the national attention it deserved. This is one of Lynn's finest songs, filled with great emotion!

Actually this was a cover of Diana Ross' hit. However, I agree Dottie's version is better. This video is real good, but lacks the fiddle which made the record kick ass!
