Hi, I'm Bryant.
I'm a student at UC Berkeley, majoring in Linguistics and Japanese.
But I'm currently studying abroad at Osaka University in Japan!

I love learning and teaching languages!
And I plan to put up videos of things about language that I find interesting, and maybe also some that show my progress in learning foreign languages.

I'm currently learning American Sign Language (ASL), and LOVING it.

About this user

Here's a simplified history of my language learning in reverse chronological order:

ASL - Started taking it at local community college starting Spring 2009.
Korean - Some self-study and took a year of it my second year in university.
Finnish - Took a year of it my first year in university.
French - took classes simultaneously at a community college while in high school. Enrolled in French 3 during my senior year (while I was taking German 4).
German - my first "foreign" language. Studied for 4 year in high school.
Japanese - due to an interest in anime and manga, self-studied since 7th grade, but did not take an official course until Summer 2007.
Spanish - exposed to it since I'm from California, I borrowed (and never returned) a children's Sing-along Spanish book, but didn't take a course until Summer 2006. I have not spent much time on Spanish, but I plan to get back to it.
English - at school, and my primary language.
Chinese (Mandarin) - Native/Heritage from parents.

Throughout high school and college, I also dabbled in various other languages such as Italian, Portuguese, Greek, Russian, Hebrew, and Arabic, mostly to just learn pronunciation and the script.

In addition to becoming fluent in all of those above, I want to learn many more. At the moment, I'm interested in Swedish, Icelandic, Thai (I love Thai food), Malay/Indonesian (my mother's family can speak it), and Teochew/Chaozhou (my mother's native Chinese dialect).
