To put it in perspective get this it's awesome ! Canis M is 2 700 000 000 km across. Divided by 12000 (earth diameter) is 225 000 times earth's diameter. If the earth was 1 centimeter across Canis M would be 2,250 kilometers across ! Just mind boggling... and humbling, we're so small

My two cents worth... your face is right in your weld. You will go through a lot of helmet cover plates not to. mention your lungs..... those pretty setups in school are fine but in the field you will have to rely more on feel than sight
