You are right. McGuinn did sing the song in a much more bare form, during the credits at the end. This is the more definitive version he recorded with the outstanding post Crosby Byrds featuring McGuinn, Clarence White, John York and Gene Parsons.

She did this before Roger McGuinn started doing parts of it within his current 8 Miles High acoustic mash. Charo's version is clean and represents hre serious work on this entire album which is overall excellent and well worth your attention.
