Terrific tutorial. I'm guessing your base yarn was superwash, given how fast it took up the dye. I'm not sure I'd do that much stirring in simmering water with anything but superwash wool. Some fibers felt with very little agitation.
I wish my labs would do that. They don't seem to care about water at all. Maybe I'll have to throw something enticing.
