Ground crew could not possibly begin startup for air crew. The ladder sits right by the intake, how would he board the aircraft? Also, the cockpit layout is not classified. However the inner workings of many of the panels ARE indeed classified.

It's not a retention rod. It's a chain and a big heavy one at that. The sound is crushing, and all fight or flight insticts kick in, making you want to leave the area. You can feel your breath being pulled from your lungs. Amazing to be near the nozzle of one of these during a burner run.

I'm air force. The F-16 is my least favorite aircraft because I work on their electrical systems on a daily basis. Anything that the pilot uses for combat, navigation, or flight instruments, I have to fix. What a nightmare.
