Members of the Canadian Federation of Students had more than 150 meetings with Members of Parliament and Senators in October 2007.

Students called for:
- a national system of need-based grants to replace the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation;
- the federal government invest the surplus to reduce tuition fees and lower student debt; and
- all parties to pass a Canada Post-Secondary Education Act similar to the Canada Health Act.
