If you don't have an oven, roast the peanuts in a skillet over medium heat with a little bit of oil while constantly stirring/moving them. You should not boil the peanuts - you will lose flavour into the boiling water. Also, boiling water doesn't go any higher than 100C/212F. You need a temperatu...

How to Boil An Egg in The Microwave

Explain to me once more what's wrong with boiling eggs in a pan with water? It'll take less than 7 minutes and you won't be sending any foil to landfill. Also, as your pan will have a handle, you won't be needing any oven mitts. **TA DA**!

A correction - groundnut oil is actually derived from peanuts, not walnuts. You seem to be closely following Heston Blumenthal's aerated chocolate recipe, so I verified- it definitely calls for groundnut oil, not walnut oil.

@McXZealot: Classic vs jazz? Character comes from the right balance of ingredients. When you change the balance, you change the character. If I change one of my own recipe to use 16 grams of citric acid instead of 14, it's exactly because I *do* realise what I'm doing... "a pinch" just lacks accu...

The "snow" on screen when typing reminds me of the old CGA days. The CGA would show similar on-screen distortion when there were screen updates while a signal was being sent to screen. It could be prevented by waiting for a scan retrace. Of course that did make video output a lot slower. Did I me...

    Alesis HD24 Malfunction

This deck keeps cutting out. Anybody know whats going on? Thanks for any help!

    kleinebre kleinebre commented:

Some hard drives require too much power to spin up for the HD24 to handle. A design upgrade was released by Alesis to address this issue- it adds a 2200 uF capacitor on the drive boards to provide just that little bit more juice at critical moments. Alternatively use a different drive with lower ...

How to make vinegar and baking soda turn in to dry ice

    I does work!!!!

    kleinebre kleinebre commented:

Congratulations. You DID make carbon dioxide. But you didn't make dry ice. Carbon dioxide is the gas that escaped into the air. The liquid that stayed behind was water. You can freeze it and you'll get ice. But it won't be dry ice. You would have needed to freeze the gas instead, but your househo...

Thanks for sharing. I'll be trying this with bicarbonate of soda instead - chemically it should be pretty close to the potassium bicarbonate used in your recipe, and it's more readily available.

    Decanter: Jilly Goolden on Cork

Jilly Goolden talks to Decanter about the ilovenaturalcork campaign

    kleinebre kleinebre commented:

I Googled it and it's true- cork *was* used in the space shuttle to insulate the fuel tanks. Oh wait. It cracked. I've yet to find out how that's good. But as it's unrelated to the main use of cork, perhaps we better ignore that. In wine, you won't get TCA infections from screwcaps (or synthetic ...
