Hi, My name is Keith and after my mother passed away in 2006 I began to live a life centered around video games. My entire free time was spent in front of a computer or television. I had very poor grades in school, had no social life, was becoming overweight, mistreated my father, became ungrateful for everything, and became so addicted to video games it was ruining my entire life.

My dad had a girlfriend and she took note of it, and brought it to my dads attention. I was already receiving counseling, but a new program was started where 2 people came to our house every week to talk about how to fix me. I hated it. One night my dad took away my computer time for the day and I became so outraged, it was sickening. I packed a bunch of stuff and ran away. The cops came and I couldn't fall asleep in the woods where I was hiding so I came back. Then the same thing happened again but this time I ran away a long way from home. Like before, I got scared and came back. My dad/girlfriend said they are taking me to a mental hospital. I put up a fight and finally I went but I didn't believe them. Well, they weren't lying and I ended up staying at the hospital for an entire month. Afterward, they decided I needed to go live at a residential home, where I lived on my own for 3 months. When I finally came home my dad/girlfriend informed me that I would never be playing video games under their roof ever again. I didn't believe them but they weren't kidding. I wanted to kill myself badly and I came close but I didn't. About 1 year later things got hectic at my dad's girlfriend's house (we moved in after I got home from the hospital). Basically, I was being a bitch and she couldn't take it anymore. Plus, she treated me like shit in front of my relatives who were visiting. Also she disrespected my sister by making her move out and she didn't have any other place to live. At this point both me and my dad and my sister all agreed: shes a fucking bitch. Me and my dad moved out to an apartment and my sister to her own. My dad decided to give me another chance, a new start. Things have been going great now at home! I don't play video games nearly as much as I used to. I made honor roll and won the most improved student award at my high school. I have applied and been accepted into 2 colleges. My life has gone through so much change in the last few years. I have lived in 5 different places, and gone to 4 different schools. After all of the struggling, finally my life has reached a point where I can say honestly, with no other consideration, life is good =)
