Here is some info to all of you who asks me questions on what a Seventh Day Adventist Christian is; The biggest and main difference from other Protestant churches is God's Law; as the Bible in both Old and New Testament states the Ten Commandments are immutable, everlasting and perfect, which means also God's Fourth commandment is immutable, and therefore we, as the name Seventh Day Adventist states, also "keep the Seventh Day holy" which is Saturday (as God never changed His holy day from Saturday to Sunday. This "change" was done by the Pope in the Dark Ages and also Emperor Constantine on political and social grounds merged together heathenism and Christianity through civil legislation March 7, 321 A.D he made Sunday (the Pagan "venerable day of the sun") a national rest day, which was the first National Sunday Law, and on 364 A.D the Catholic Church in the Council of Laodecea "transferred" the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday. But obviously no man can change God's Law and so in fact Saturday is still God's holy day). Although other Protestant churches believe and keep 9 of the 10 Commandments, many forget the one Commandment which starts with "Remember", and this 4th Commandment about the Sabbath will have great significance in the future, as Bible prophesy there will again be an enforced Sunday Law in the endtimes, in opposition to God's Law. Many pastors and churches teach that the Ten Commandments have been abolished, but this is NOT in accordance to Bible, and this Law is still the universal standard for morality, right and wrong, and the first four commandments tells us how we are to "love God with all our heart, soul and mind", and the last six commandments tells us how we are to "love our neighbour as ourselves" Rom.13:8-10. "Love is the fulfilling of the law", and embraces our full duty to God and fellowmen, as "fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man" Eccl.12:13-14. Not only is it our obligation to obey God's Law, it was unquestionably meant to bring us great peace, happiness, liberty and protection. Even the 4th commandment, which is the point of great controversy, is nothing but a blessing and a delight.
Bible mentions 2 very distinct, separate and different laws. The Ten Commandments are called God's Law, the Royal law and "the perfect law of liberty" Isa.5:24, Jam.2:8-11, Jam.1:25, and was written by GOD himself, with the very FINGER OF GOD on tablets of STONE, and was placed INSIDE the Ark of the Covenant Ex.31:18, 32:16, 40:20. Bible states this Law is everlasting and binding today, and to break one or any of them is SIN, as "sin is the transgression of the law", and "whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in ONE point is guilty of all. For He that said, Do not commit adultery, said also Do not kill... 1John3:4, 5:3,Jam.2:8,10-12. The penalty for transgressing this Law is death, as "the wages of sin is death". Rom.3:23,6:23, Jam.1:15. But because Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and died in our behalf, we are no longer under the law [under its condemnation, punishment, judgment and death sentence]. "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" and contrary to many popular Pastors today, grace does NOT give us the permission to sin. Paul clearly states: "What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God FORBID". "Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God FORBID", "Do we then make void the law through faith? God FORBID: yea, we ESTABLISH the law"! Rom.2:13,20-23,3:20,31,6:1-2,15-16, 23,7:7,12,14,22,13:8-10. The Ten Commandments is the exact Law which Jesus, Paul and the disciples kept, and commands us to obey, establish and uphold. Jesus said: "think NOT I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am NOT come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in NO wise pass from the law..." Mat.5:17-22,Luk.16:17,18:18-20.Mat.19:16-30, 24:20.
The other set of laws are called "The law of Moses" Luk2:22 which are the 600 ordinances, ceremonies, sanctuary service instructions, circumcisions, rituals, ceremonial holydays and sabbath days (the YEARLY CEREMONIAL Sabbath days which are NOT to be confused with the Ten Commandment weekly Seventh day Sabbath!), meat and drink offerings and animal sacrifices, which were TEMPORARY and a "shadow of things" pointing forward to Jesus sacrifice as the true "lamb of God", and are "done away with", "abolished" and "nailed to the cross" and are NOT binding any longer. This "Law contained in ordinances" and "handwriting of ordinances" was written by MOSES on a BOOK and was put in the SIDE of the Ark of the Covenant (and NOT inside the Ark with the Ten Commandments) 2Chor.35:12,Deut.31:26,Eph.2:15,Col.2:14-16,GAL.3:19.
