About Me:
As a pianist, Kirk Tatge is as un-accomplished as they come. He equates the training he received in his youth with torture, the likes of which has long been outlawed by the Geneva Conventions. By the time he was 14 years of age...having shown no promise whatsoever on the keyboard, after thoroughly boring scores of relatives during holiday gatherings with incredibly bad renditions of Fur Elise and Minuet in G, and upon finding that his real talents obviously lay elsewhere...thankfully, his piano "playing" ceased.
The grateful silence that followed spanned some twenty years. This was a time of tremendous personal growth for Mr. Tatge. He graduated college, embarked on a career, married, and started a family.
At some point in the mid 1990's, for reasons still unclear, Kirk purchased a piano and began the slow process of re-teaching himself how to play. This time it would be different! He would go it alone and was certain he would find success where his early tormentors had failed! Alas, within a couple of years Mr. Tatge had only managed to recapture a level of mediocrity that, in his younger days, had left many a recital audience nonplussed.
Unfortunately, with the advent of the Internet, Mr. Tatge now has a platform from which he can inflict his underwhelming talent not only on relatives, but the entire world.
So it is with more than just a few reservations that we announce Kirk Tatge's return to performance by offering, for your viewing and listening pleasure, a selection of his "works". The hope is that you, the viewer, may take some enjoyment herein...if not from the actual music, then perhaps from the satisfaction of knowing that maybe your own musical skills aren't so bad!!
More than likely, though, you will discover that, despite his best efforts, Kirk Tatge remains an inferior piano player who only manages to sound marginally passable on YouTube by continually re-recording takes over and over again until he almost gets it right...
