Fro is keeper, I don't know if all your hens are pets. If not I would keep Fro past her egg laying years just to have a good broody mother hen around. Here's hoping the chicks you will be keeping are pullets as well.

Barred Rocks seem to be a very long lived breed. Your the fourth person I have heard of that has some that over six years old. Sorry you lost two of your younger hens.

@Francis362003 Cinnamon passed away last year of old age related problems or was put to sleep because of them. She was 13 years old. She was quite the bunny.

Well if she keeps pretending, you might want to allow her to raise a few of her own sociopaths into this world. Maybe then she could have a buddy to pick on instead of Daisy. Despire her cold, cold heart she might make a good mother. Maybe next year.

Your polish do to love to go broody !!! Everyone else I know with Polish hens won't usually go broody. I guess it's just your luck that you get Polish hens who decide to go against whats usually expected of them.

You have a beautiful rooster. Is he a Barred Rock, a Dominique or Black Sex Link Rooster ?

@xatzibe Well that is better than some hens on their first time raising chicks. At least she got two of them to teenage hood. I have known of first time hen mothers losing ten or twelve babies.
