I don't think he is using launch control properly. I have a 2011 Stock GTI and it revs to 3000 rpm during launch control. I believe that it will rev to 2000 rpm's if it is not engaging the launch control feature. If not done properly, you can also feel the car trying to pull forward. The break in...

Found this article and it answered a lot of questions. Doesn't say anything about gas milage, however it does say they had a 0-60 time of 6.0 seconds. They had a suspension kit and APR program, and I think that is all.
