"O Allah, You are the first: there is nothing before You; and You are the last: there is nothing after You. You are the Manifest (al-Zahir): there is nothing above You. You are the Hidden (al-Batin): there is nothing below You."
Hadith of prophet Mohammad, salla allahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned on sahih Muslim.
Imam ^Aliyy Ibn Abi Talib (died 40 AH), may Allah raise his rank, the eminent and renowned companion and one of the most distinguished in teaching Tawhid (Islamic Creed) said: Allah is eternally existent and place is not, and He still exists as He eternally was (i.e. without a place). Narrated by Abu Mansur al-Baghdadiyy in his book 'al-Farq baynal-Firaq'".
Imam `Ali ibn Abi Talib said: "A people of this Nation (of the Prophet Muhammad) shall return to being blasphemers when the Day of Judgment is near." A man asked, "O Prince of the Believers! What is their blasphemy for? Is it for inventing something, or for denying something?" `Ali replied: "It is for denial. They? deny their Creator; they say that He is attributed with a body and limbs."
In the book Ar-Risalah (The Message) by Abul-Qasim al-Qushayriyy, Imam ^Aliyy ibn abi Talib said:
الإمام عَلِيَّ بْنِ أَبي طالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ : لا يقال أين لمن أيّن الأين
Means: The question of where [i.e. location] does not apply to the One who created the whereabouts.
In his book 'as-Sahifah as-Sajjadiyyah' Imam Zaynul-^Abidin ^Aliyy Ibnul-Hussayn (died 94 AH), may Allah raise his rank, a great successor of the companions (Tabi^iyy) said: You are Allah, the One who is not confined to place.
Imam Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, the first caliphate said:
"The inability to realise the Reality of Allah is the correct realisation. However, to try and search for the Reality of Allah is blasphemy and shirk (polytheism)"
"Being near or far from Allah is not in terms of spacial distance. Whoever obeys Allah is near to Him, and whoever disobeys Allah is far from Him." - The Greatest Imam, Abu Hanifa (ra)
Imam Malik said:
He (Allah ) has no limits and nothing resembles Him
According to Imam al-Baihaqi, in his Manaqib Ahmad, he relates with a sahih chain that Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal said: A person commits an act of disbelief (kufr) if he says Allah is a body, even if he says: Allah is a body but not like other bodies.
We say: Our doctrine is that Allah is pre-eternal and pre-existent (qadîm azalî). He does not resemble anything nor does anything resemble Him. He has no direction nor place. He is not subject to time nor duration. Neither "where" (ayn) nor "at" (hayth) applies to Him. He shall be seen, but not as part of an encounter, nor in the sense of an encounter (yurâ lâ 'an muqâbala wa lâ 'alâ muqâbala). He was when there was no place, He created place and time, and He is now as He ever was. This is the madhhab of Ahl al-Sunna and the doctrine of the shaykhs of the [Sufi] Path - may Allah be well-pleased with them
