Products That Change the World
The Italian patriot Garibaldi was recrurting his army, he threw out a wonderful challenge which evoked an overwhelming response both in loyalty and in numbers. "Soldiers", what I have to offer you is fatigue, danger, struggle and death, the chill of the cold night, and heat under the burning sun; no lodging, no provisions, but forced marches, dangerous watch posts and constant fighting. Those who love freedom and their country will follow me.
Few men could resist such a challenge to offer their lives in such a great and worthy cause. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has given us all goals and assignments. But even wrth the combination of right goals, sincerrty, and zeal we do not always accomplish the desired ends. In our endeavors to often we erther have no sense of strategy or we use the wrong strategy. The strategy in the life of Jesus Christ is a strong emphasis on the cost of discipleship. He seemed to spend more time warning men of trials and difficulties than he did urging them to follow him. So often we tell people how much they will receive and how wonderful the church is, and how secure Christian life is. These are partial truths and can set up psychological blocks for many people. The second strategy Jesus used was he often made contact with people by asking for help. He asked the woman at the well for a drink of water, he asked the despised and miserable tax collector Zacchaeus if he would feed him and his men. Sometimes we try to help people in need only to find that this embarrasses them and drives them away. But if we use the method Jesus used and ask someone for help, we can give a needy person dignity and a sense of worth which will enable him or her, at some time in the future to talk about his/her problems.
The mission of Kingdom Brands is to change the world with a positive influence, build profits through creative innovation and vision, conduct business in such a way as to provide a positive role model to the community while maintaining the highest moral and ethical standards in business with that same commitment to customers, vendors and employees. The KINGDOM BRANDS outreach mission is extended to everybody, regardless of race, color or financial position in society. We are all in this together. We need the help of everybody to reach out to children and youth, homeless and hungry people and families. We have a great challenge ahead of us and it can be accomplished through economic development. The reason the homeless are homeless is not because of a lack of enough money. Our crty governments are spending millions in building new baseball and football stadiums instead of housing the homeless and feeding the hungry. If the job is going to get done we can't depend on city governments or officials; our trust must be in God.
The third strategy Jesus used was honesty. He had a special relationship with his disciples in trying to make them the kind of men who would establish the kingdom following his ascension, he talked about his own past and present needs and fears. Many leaders today are reluctant to share their needs and struggles wrth those whom they are training and teaching. In this day and hour we must know that honesty about our own difficulties can be a source of help and learning for others.
Finally, let's examine the strategy Jesus used with the corporate group structure, the nation and the world at large. Jesus began his ministry at the grass roots rather than at the top. Too often today in our Quest for helping others we want to begin reform at the top without proving clinical examples of what we are aiming for. But it is important that we establish a base with ordinary people before we confront power structures. Jesus set out to change the world by building a small team. His twelve disciples became the primary focus of his ministry. Jesus spent most of his time on them and went on to confront the center of the power structures of his time. We must realize that we cannot work at the grass roots and stop there, forgetting that people are often victims of systems and structures which must be ultimately challenged and attacked. KINGDOM BRANDS is committed to being that voice. KINGDOM BRANDS realizes that if we are to have a God guided business that will make lasting changes in the world, we must risk our lives and reputations and maintain our convictions in public as well as private.
Harry Emerson Fosdick has said that every man is like an island; if we are to help him to discover his identrty and Gods' plan for his life, we must "row around him" until we find a suitable place to land. This may take a few minutes or it may take years. Each man has a landing place where we can make contact with him and establish a beachhead for what God ultimately intends.
