Kim Vestin

It would be easy to place Kim Vestin in the same box as typical singer/songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake, but rather than being calm and reflective, the mood she sets is one powerful yet intimate. The music is melodic pianobased pop, characterized by daring vocals and a weakness for drama. Born and raised in the countryside in northern Sweden, this 27-year-old dropped out of Malmö Academy of Music to focus on her own writing. Since moving to Stockholm in the fall of 2009, she has been performing regularly in Stockholm, Umeå, Malmö and Copenhagen. Kim has recently started working with fellow musicians Fredric Johansson and Oscar Hägglund, and is in the midsth of developing a sound for this bigger setting. Recordings of a debut album started late october 2011, and is expected to be finished early spring 2012.
