I have to agree with ferdinando 1945, Conniff did some wonderful arrangements and the instrumentals and vocals in this are so light and lovely they make you feel happy.

Not an easy piece for any singer but Hiroko does it very nicely. Lovely vibrato and a great display of vocal gymnastics done with passion and on key.

This is lovely, try listening to him play Stardust some time it's extra special.

hmvrios 1 you're right about not driving it, but playing for the emotion and message in the ballad, but like you I think it was a good choice for the vibraphone if played with a little more passion - and yes those softer mallets too.
