Clicker training
Name: Emily
Age: 28
I train my dogs using the clicker training method (used by aquariums and zoos)- which is a subset of operant conditioning. That means I don't use positive punishment or negative reinforcement (I don't say 'no!' or 'eh eh' etc) Instead I use positive reinforcement and negative punishment (I add good things and take away good things from my dogs environment)

roskidd - Hot dogs are very processed, bad for dogs and humans. I usually use Natural Balance Dog Food Rolls, that are actual dog food that can be cut up and used as reinforcers. Or cooked real meat- real chicken, beef, lamb, etc. That way the dogs stay extra healthy. I would use raw meat, but its just a little to risky to use as treats. I subtract from their diet the same amount of calories as the treats so they dont gain weight. I will use tiny bits of foods that are slightly unhealthy to 'get the ball rolling' sometimes or in very distracting environments, so sometimes tiny bits of cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, hot dogs etc. But you are right, hot dogs every day would not be healthy!

so i noticed that a lot of people who are training their dogs by feeding them lit bits of hot dogs. My questions is whether or not this is healthy/good for the dog or puppy. And what is the max you should provide in treats/hot dogs for a day? I will be getting my labradoodle puppy on monday and would like to start training as soon as possible. Any advice or direction on what i should "treat" him/her with would be appreciated. I also love you videos very much!
