I think it was just a silly trick to show Superman has special powers when he's within the Fortress of Solitude, like when he teleports and duplicates himself. These are things he can only do in his Fortress.

@Gears44 we may say that about the cgi in some of todays movies, but not about the original Tron, since the visuals were not cgi, but cartoons. Almost of all of the effects in Tron that look like digital designs were Disney cartoonists imitating computer images.

@moksith - actually Bishop states that he cannot perform any act which would cause humans to be harmed, so the android programming changed since the first movie. Even his devotion to "the Company" cannot counter his programming, similar to the 3 rules from I, Robot.

@EmirTheBosnian in his speech he points out that 4 million jobs were lost in his first 2 years, so that's still a net loss of jobs. Plus it cost the American taxpayers over a 1trillion dollars in stimulus money to create those 3 million jobs, thats $333,000.00 per job!!!!
