My name is Steven Brick. I started living with computers back in the early 80's. My first computer was a Texas Instruments TI-99. This simple computer accepted game cartridges and had a keyboard that connected to a television. Before the TI-99, I had a computerized game called Pong that also connected to a television. I used a Commodore 64 in high school around 1987 and then in 1991 I purchased my first laptop from Radio Shack which used the NEC V20 processor, a competitor to the Intel 8088. I learned to type on this simple laptop with a program called Typing Tutor. At this time I was employed by the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician maintaining all the electronics on a squadron of 12 F/A 18 Hornet fighter jets at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. My neighbour had a 486 DX66 system with a flight simulator program. I remember thinking at that time, "How can the processor manufacturers produce a processor faster than the 486 DX66?" Today I laugh a lot when I think back to those days. Now we're talking Quads and overclocking with super cold liquids and reaching 6.xx Ghz. I remember renting a computer one time in 2000 just to have access to the internet for a short time and then as a commercial truck driver I purchased a Sony VAIO laptop which lasted me 6 years of very rough use. Sometimes this little laptop would get over worked and lock up, but for the most part it served me well. After 6 years, and a lot of use, the monitor back light went out. I felt like I got my money's worth. I got another Sony VAIO laptop which had a brilliant display and simply loved it as well...no complaints. At that time in my life, which was about 3 years ago, and after having put myself through A+ certification training for the second time, I realized that it would be a good idea to start building custom computers from scratch. Find a case that would allow a person to grow as needed, do whatever they ever might want to do and to actually know what they have in the case. That's why I am doing what i do today...building custom computers from scratch! I don't know why anyone simply purchases something someone else decided was a good configuration and honestly has no idea what they are buying.
