Medes, Persians, Parthians, Scythians, Bactrians, Sarmatians, Cimmerians, Alans, Kurds, Lurs are all Iranian Tribe or Iranic People. They are called Iranians, even if there countries are not named Iran.

The Medes unified Iran as a nation and together with the Persians, an Empire: The Achaemenid Empire was the first of the Iranian Empires to rule in Middle East and central Asia. They were succeeded by the Seleucid Empire, Parthians and Sassanids.
It all started when the Iranians migrated into the land they later named Aeran (Iran.) They began living in different parts of Iran. The word "Persia" is the Greek pronunciation of Parso or "Pars" which means south west in old Persian and was also used by Greeks to call those who lived in the south western parts of Aeran. They would use tribal names such as: Mede = Those occupying the Middle parts, Partho = Occupying The East.
Medes were an empire that payed tributes to Assyrians. Persians were settled close to them and later took over with the help of the Medes to form the first Iranian Empire in the Middle East: The Achaemenids. After that was Alexander (Seleucids), then the Parthians, then the Sassanids, under which Iranian Tribes mixed to be collectively called Aeranians (Iranians). Then came the Arab Invasion.
By the time the Arabs conquered the Sassanid Empire, they would call us collectively as Persians and described us as people who live close to each other, speak similar languages, and once belonged to one nation as one people.
The Islamic Arab movement unlike any other that had conquered Persia in the past, banned the use of the Persian language, destroyed any sign of our past. The Arabs were savage even compared to other past conquerers. When Alexander conquered Persia he started speaking Persian, dressing Persian and was criticized for it by his generals, whom he had executed as a result. He also married the Persian Princess and had Persian kids. After the Arab Islamic take over of the region, Persians fought to keep the land and past Sassanid Generals led efforts to keep Persia. The Arab Caliphates had to give in as Persians were an unstoppable force and formulated a Persian court where they were able to make a deal with one of these past Sassanid Generals who were leading efforts against them, to accept Islam in a negotiation in exchange for land and some independence over governance of their people. (Iranians became Islamitized through a collection of efforts that began taking placing during the 8th and 10th century and even as late as the 15th and 18th century.)
Persians reclaimed the land from the Arab Caliphates: Tahirids in Khorasan (820--72); the Saffarids in Sistan (867--903); and the Samanids (875--1005), originally at Bokhara. The Samanids eventually ruled an area from central Iran to Pakistan.

About Me:
By the early 10th century, the Abbasids lost control to the growing Persian faction known as the Buwayhid dynasty (934--1055). Since much of the Abbasid administration had been Persian anyway, the Buwayhid were quietly able to assume real power in Baghdad. Persians kept up efforts and government after government where overthrown and Persia resumed its Identity. Persians over the centuries worked to protect and revive their distinctive language and culture, a process known as Persianization.
Iranians were the only people that avoided full islamization and kept their heritage (unlike the Egyptians, etc.) Persians although had limited rights and faced oppression under the Islamic Arab governance, managed to recreate Islam into their own version (Twelver Shi'ite Movement.) to include Nowruz and many other Zoroastrian traditions. Chaharshanbe Suri is a fire-related festivals celebrated throughout Iran and date back to when Zoroastrianism was still the dominant religion of the region.
The Shi'ite movement was based on revenge, getting back our land and pretty much used as warfare against Arabs /Sunnis. When Persia was fighting Rome, at one point we had half of Armenia and they had the other half, but all Armenians (both sides) where Roman Catholic. So in an effort in stabilizing our part of Armenia in case Rome decided to go for the other half, we attempted to convert our half of Armenia (which were Roman Catholics), not to Zoroastrianism (the religion Persia was at the time) But to Nestorian Christianity (Simply another version of Christianity, as the Armenians were Roman Catholic.) The same tactic was used by Persians to create the Shi'ite movement (simply a different version of the Arab religion) and using the Shi'ite movement, Persia blew Arabs out of the water back to the sands.
Iranians recovered the land from the arab muslims and kept Zoroastriansm, Iranians languages, cultures, history and traditions alive. Iranian Islam is a second advent of Islam itself, a new Islam sometimes referred to as Islam-i Ajam. It was this Persian Islam, rather than the original Arab Islam, that was brought to new areas and new peoples: to the Turks, first in Central Asia and then in the Middle East in the country which came to be called Turkey, and of course to India.
Those Iranians that today are muslim were once forced to occupy Islam by a sword or taxes that were only subjected to non-muslims. It there after was illegal by the penalty of death to convert from Islam. There was also a law, where if you died, your belongings would be inherited by the closest muslim convert to you. so many converted to islam in inheritance disputes etc. Many simply falsely chose the islam faith to avoid taxes or loosing their belongings and not to be discriminated against, though secretly kept their zoroastrian heritage, and throughout history they had to be discreet when telling their kids about their true identity, and over time their true identity was lost and replaced by an Islamic one.

Persians Zoroastrians in Iran that hid in mountains in communities during the Arab invasion and Arab Control (they stayed on Persian land and kept Persian tradition alive), Then there are the 'Parsis' and 'Iranis' that went to India and took with them important texts, The Zend Avesta etc. (they kept alive their Persian traditions, but left Persian land for a new land) Then there were those that kept fighting the Arabs (Sassanid Generals and Persian Militants) which eventually restored Persia (they kept Persian land, and rewrote islam to include zoroastrian traditions and new years, Nowruz, but lost much of their Persian religion.) All of these Groups make up Current-Day Persians, (The keepers of our heritage and land.) We must restore our traditions, language, religion to have Finally restored our Iranian Identity successfully. It's not at all too late, if anything we have ALOT of time.

******************************************************* The Creation of Islam and The Arab Conquest of Persia ******************************************************* Since the 1st century BC, the border between the Roman (later Byzantine) and Parthian (later Sassanid) empires had been the Euphrates river. The border was constantly contested. Most battles, and thus most fortifications, were concentrated in the hilly regions of the north, as the vast Arabian or Syrian Desert (Roman Arabia) separated the rival empires in the south. The only dangers expected from the south were occasional raids by nomadic Arab tribesmen. Both empires therefore allied themselves with small, semi-independent Arab principalities, which served as buffer states and protected Byzantium and Persia from Bedouin attacks. The Byzantine clients were the Ghassanids; the Persian clients were the Lakhmids (Arabs were Mercenaries.) Muslim Iranians generally don't know their history, or how early of an invention Islam is, in a period where money and wealth ruled the world, much like it does today, and Arabs were just mercenaries to Persian and Byzantium Empires. In the story of Islam: the Arabs worshiped and payed tributes in form of coins to statues that were considered gods and each tribe had its own and they killed each other over it. Mohammed said, hey lets all become one, made a thing that is referred to as the house of god and later the Arabs went on a rampage and conquered Persia. (Persia had been in constant battle with Byzantine and before them the Romans.) What most people ignore is that the people who collected the coins and were tricking the Arabs earlier on, were most likely Byzantines or Persians. The Ghassanid Arab Tribe which were clients of the Byzantium Empire were converted to a form of christianity that the Byzantines had introduced to them, it was a hierarchy structured form of christianity where their wealth would go back to the Byzantium churches. Christianity & Islam are the only religions that have forced them selves on to their followers and were both engineered. Christianity by the Romans 600 years previous to the creation of Islam & thousands of years after Zoroastriansm etc. The Lakhmids Arab Tribe which were clients of the Persian Empire later went against the Persian Empire and are recognized as a main reason for the fall of the Sassanid Empire. Arabs also went around Europe to Spain and pretty much ignored Byzantium at a time where the Byzantines were faced with a plague and lost most of their population. Arabs completely neglected Mohammed's bloodline, which they claimed was 'the messenger of god', and later killed Mohammed's whole family when they (Mohammed's family) tried to flee from the oppression they faced from the Umayyads. It was formed at a time where there was clear circulation of Money and Money being tied to Power and when Arabs were mercenaries. The Second Shah of the Pahlavi Dynasty should have been more forceful in keeping the power and removing mullahs from Iran (the exiles that came back by the help of the CIA and the British that were the foundation of the current regime.) The Shah raised the world oil prices 400 Percent through influencing OPEC, which Iran under the Shah was able to pretty much control. As a result the entire world went into a recession except Iran. The international community sabotaged the Shah for disregarding their interest and becoming a serious threat, not only militarily, but economically at the time. A revolution is dangerous unless we are strong enough to take control of the revolution, or before we know it, we are revolting for another power which we don't approve of to come into place, because we have no well established organizations of our own. Our current government is made up of clerics and are not well educated, and hold outrageous radical points of views. But our main worry should be another power coming to Iran that is going to be discreet, smart, and is not going to give room for revolt and truly destroy any hope of an independent and strong Iranian/Persian nation. We are some what lucky that the current government is so dumb they are loosing power within only 32 years of existence. We would not be getting another regime that is going to be so easy and dumb to overthrow in such a small period of existence. The next power is going assume full control (and we have nationalized oil, treasures, crown jewels, all our history, in tablets or ancient artifacts belongs to the ruler of the nation) So we have a lot to loose and who knows what the current leaders will do before they leave. In Libya, the dictator took 70 Billion dollars out of the country into his own pocket, even in Haiti after the earthquake they were robbed billions by their leaders. A lot of the Old Testament (Torah) took place in Persia and written by Jews in the Persian Empire (Ezra, Nehemiah.) Persians should align themselves in a position that is going to be supported so they can carry on their own revolution rather than a country invading Iran and auctioning off our oil fields while they're at it : like they did with Iraq. It's simply wrong to distract our selves with foreign politics, like the Israeli - Palestinian conflict when there are so many BAD things happening in our own land. In fact it is pathetic to be involved in an Arab countries problem like the government of Iran currently is. We can't fix our own problems; Our top priority should be Iran and we should never distract our selves with anything else, especially the foreign politics the current regime in Iran is distracting its citizens with, which has NOTHING to do with Iranians. It is a distraction and it is pathetic. There are executions daily in Iran and our economy is being hit tremendously, not to mention Iranian's taxes, wealth, and resources being literally given away to Arab Counties. Israel could take over the whole Arab world for all we care. (We wouldn't have any worries after it. No historical hate and Arabs trying to call the Persian Gulf, the 'Arab Gulf' while the Iranian government is giving these Arabs billions of dollars. Going even further in detail, The whole idea of the Fictional Aryans (Not the Historical Iranian Usage of the word Aryan) having Blue eyes and Blonde Hair came from people such as Karl Penka, who popularized the idea that the Aryans had emerged in Scandinavia, and could be identified by their distinctive Nordic characteristics of blond hair and blue eyes. Thomas Henry Huxley (A Nazi Racialist to Adolf Hitler) agreed with him, coining the term "Xanthochroi" to refer to fair-skinned Europeans, as opposed to darker Mediterranean peoples, whom Huxley called "Melanochroi". It was Huxley who also concluded that the Melanochroi (Peoples of the Mediterranean race), who he described as "dark whites", are of a mixture of the Xanthochroi and Australioids. To Sum It Up: There is nothing special or even real about the German's 'Aryan Race.' I want to clarify that this was a Fictional Race that never included Iranians (contrary to what some of you foolish idiots believe.)
