Looks like a brake fire. My guess is that the park brake was left on, or was partially engaged. I think that it might be the latter as the starboard main wheels caught 1st.
As this occurred well before V1, I think that the pilot was correct to abort.

Presstrigga. I can't see why the plane used all of runway 01. Maybe reverser's or flaps not full operational? The plane should have easily made taxiway Echo or even Charlie. Echo is a little more than half the way down.

According to Boeing, at take off power, the exhaust velocity for a 747 is 35MPH at 1560ft. The temperature there will be a nice 100 deg F ( 56Km/h @ 38deg C). All distances are from the tail of the aircraft. At a distance of 150ft it would be 150Mph. Just thought you might be intrested.

I think that Thai Airways would like to use an even bigger bird on the Bangkok- Phuket run, if they could find an aircraft capable of using Phuket that is.
The 747's are packed almost every trip.

Both the 880 and the 990 were easier to fly than the 707 or the DC8. The passengers like the Convairs, but the high fuel bills and the noise from the engines killed it.

The MD11 was based on the well know DC10. However they made the vertical and horizontal tails smaller in the interests of saving weight and reducing drag.
It was fine at speed, but at low speeds the plane could oscillate badly. It was even know to flip onto its back after the flare out and in on...

This runway would never hold up to today's design standards! Touchdown zone way to close to a hill, forcing the plane to come in really low over the hill on finals.
@kebabish3 . The danger area for the TRENT engines at idle power is 4.5M (15 ft) infront of the engine intake. At max takeoff power it is 8.9M (29ft).
