Yup...Loudon seems to effortlessly write songs on pretty much any subject. OH...boy...that's Suzanne Vega...didn't recognize her until she started singing...great combo!

Wow, first time I have seen Lucy and Sloan (got her album, but unfortunately, didn't really get into it) perform!

God, I remember getting this album soooo many years ago (yup, an album, vinyl) and loving it. Still have it, still love it. One of many artists who deserve a wider audience, but is just too individualilstic to get the masses to appreciate her. Keep going Jane/Issa.

This song is just friggin amazing. Really. With two daughters, it affects me even more than it would normally...just incredible songwriting.

Anyone else notice how many songs Folds names after people? Check the album title lists, I swear, probably 60% or more of his songs are named after people...nothing to say about really other than I noticed it.

Wow...I did not know those facts about Hornby's son...this album really grew on me, more and more with each listen.

Oh, and all this time, I thought that girl was the woman in Florence and the Machine....

This is both a beautiful and sad video (and song). Lately, when I see the abandoned buildings in our cities wracked by the crappy economy, it makes me really freaking sad...neighborhoods forgotten by whatever administration happens to be in power. While organized religion (and big business) grows...

Great video and well done by wall. Don't worry about adhering to the storyline...that's what film is for.

It amazes me when an artist can take an existing song of theirs (or anyone's), and change it so much. When I hear a song repeatedly, the structure is so ingrained in my brain, I find it very difficult to think of it any other way. But...I guess that's what separates people like Sufjan from me!

God I love this song (the second one, later on All Delighted People)....

I lived in Michigan as a very young kid and the only memory I have is of collecting a big dirty clothes basket full of hermit crabs, having it tip over in the house later, leaving hermit crabs everywhere for days. That being said, Sufjan rules.

That moment at 2:58...'when innocence dies...' is well done...very sad, but well done.

I also have to commend the film maker...at 1:57, the music ascends as the vehicle raises the canisters...great attention to detail.

This makes me think of an updated version of the Peanuts music...darn fun.

I started listening to this cd and kept listening again and again and again..it's probably my favorite Sufjan now, and that is saying a lot, as several of the others meaned an awful lot to me. My 10 year old daughter is now listening to this album obsessively too, so Sufjan must be doing somethin...

At 2:38, a guy sits on a bench and, though I assume there are similar benches everywhere, it sure looks like the bench that is a central part in the film 1000 Days of Summer (going on memory for the title)...is it the same?

Finally, a Christmas cd I can play during the season (and all the time) that won't bore me to tears. I just hate thearing the same old stuff again every year, but having something like this makes me actually look forward to it now.

Those of you that are citing other artists should really check out Philip Glass. Stevens does musically cyclical things in many songs that echo Glass's work, such as Glassworks, Koyanisquatsi, etc. Really beautiful stuff...but not for everyone. Music can be amazing, unexplainable, unable to be broken down. The way he manages all the voices, instruments, overlayed choruses and treatments, but still ends up with an emotionally affecting song is just unfathomable. Though the cd as a whole doesn't do as much for me as previous releases, son...

Yeah, Hejira is amazing...could be my favorite, but it's so hard to choose between that, this one, For the Roses...heck, it's impossible!

Man...just look at that right hand dancing over the strings....I am a visual artist and have never liked the word, 'talent.' but seeing something like this makes me believe it.
