My name is Ken Chau, born in Macau. I immigrated to Canada when I was 14 years old. I am currently working in Macau.

I draw anime because I love to draw. Of course, as an anime instructor, it greatly influenced my passion towards anime drawing. The reasons you saw the character drawings from existing anime on my portfolio because my students want to learn how to draw those characters. I actually train my drawing speed when I am teaching. In my opinion to improve your drawing skill, practicing is very important. But only practicing is not enough, use your critical artist thinking. If you don't understand something, just learn it, no one knows everything when they are born. It is important to understand what's good and bad. Even if there are lots of people say it is a good drawing. It does not mean the drawing must be good. Sometimes people are being nice and don't want to hurt your feeling. So you are the one who has to train your eyes and understand what is really good and face the truth from others' advice.

The attitude of learning greatly affects your improvement. If you always think this is hard to learn, and not tried it, you will never improve. If you don't improve your knowledge of art, even people tell you some valuable advices, you still may not understand them. The most valuable thing is not the drawing you made. It's the drawing skill and artistic knowledge that you own by yourself.

If you need some hint about drawing, I would be glad to help when I am free. But please do not ask me to do any anime drawing or coloring for you. Unless it is a job opportunity where you will be paying me, and if I know you in real life. I love art, but I need to live too.
