DEADLINE EXTENSION FOR ENTRIES 1ST SEPTEMBER 2010

Welcome to the Kemble Chopin Piano E-Competition for amateur pianists.

"I wish I'd never given up my piano lessons" one of the most familiar phrases heard throughout the length and breadth of the land as people reminisce, or are moved by a beautiful piece of music; the truly universal language.

2010 marks the 200th anniversary of Frédéric Chopin's birth in Warsaw, and to celebrate the occasion were delighted to announce the establishment of an exciting new Chopin Piano E-Competition' for amateur pianists The competition also coincides with the production of a Special Edition Kemble Chopin piano to mark this musical milestone.

Now, for the thousands of passionate amateurs from all walks of life who persisted with the crotchets, quavers and left hand exercises, were offering a fantastic opportunity to get noticed, get showcased and win the 'Special Edition' Kemble Chopin Piano worth over £8000!

It's also a great opportunity for those lapsed pianists to return to playing the piano, dust off their sheet music and polish up their scales. Everyone is invited to enter not just 'professional' amateurs.

The Prizes:
•The winner of the competition will be presented with a Special Edition Kemble Chopin Piano worth over £8000 together with a private piano lesson from Kevin Kenner.
•The runner up will receive a private piano lesson from Kevin Kenner.
•The third place prize winner will receive tickets to a Classic FM Live Concert.
•The top ten pianists as voted for by the general public will receive a years free subscription to Classic FM Magazine.

How to apply:
•The competition is open to anyone who resides in the UK or ROI
•You must be 18 years or over (born before the 1st January 1993)
•You should not derive your principal source of income from performance or piano instruction
•You should not be studying at a music school or at high education level i.e. Conservatoire, Music College or University Music Department
•You may have considered a professional career at some point in your life, and may have received piano degrees from a music school. Thats fine you're still eligible!

Requirements:

•An unedited video recording of any Chopin solo piano work played by you should be uploaded to your YouTube account and an application form completed via the Kemble website. So that we can locate your competition entry easily, please name your video file using your first name, surname, followed by the name of the piece youre playing. Well then add your YouTube video to our Playlist on the official Kemble Pianos channel.
•If you dont already have a YouTube account youll need to set one up on www.youtube.com ; its really easy and only takes a few minutes.
•You can perform a programme of one or more pieces by Chopin not exceeding 10 minutes; this could include one movement from a Sonata for example.
•At the beginning of your video entry please introduce yourself and tell us why youve chosen this particular piece of Chopin to perform.
•N.B. Please bear in mind that the quality of your recording will affect the jurys ability to accurately judge your performance. Have a look at our YouTube channel, weve put together a video giving hints and tips on how to record your piano at home.
•Deadline for entries is 1st September2010, public voting will commence on the 3rd September until the 4th October 2010. The ten pianists receiving the most public votes will be announced on the 4th October and will progress to the Judges round. Winners will be announced on the 24th October 2010.
