Keith is a self taught musician. He had taught himself to play guitar in his early 20s, and is also able to play drums and keyboards. When asked about being self taught, he has said "I think it's easier to be self taught with music. When people are classically trained or otherwise taught how to play an instrument through use of a structure, it limits their minds to follow structure too rigidly. I feel more uninhibited by things like that since I taught myself how to play."
