Collision avoidance is ultimately the pilot’s responsibility in VMC, however we know from the squawk codes that this is a radar environment. ATC should have seen this, especially in class A airspace, but didn't. No instrument rated pilot keeps his head up all the time.

I think we do it because if I where to make such a landing (which I have come close) I would tell myself "dude, that was a f'n horrible landing, choke yourself" hahaa! I just think it was amazing that he did almost no flaring, just rammed into the grass =P

The kid is not PIC! The pilot is a CFI so he allowed him to sit in the left seat. From the first time I flew till I soloed I was in the left seat.

Not true, I use 20 degrees all the time, it's part of the soft field t/o proceedure to begin with (comment below). And yes, based on the elevator position on t/o, the cg was not aft, the dumbshit just pulled off the runway too soon, then didn't keep his nose down to accelarate. But I bet he was o...

unfortunately sometimes this is how we pilots learn. I know hell check the mixture every time he enters the pattern till the day he dies now. But other than that, amazing!

Haha wow Ive had a few such landings, the only difference is they scared the living shit out of me! I've even had my hands shake afterwards. When something like that doesn't scare you, you know you are headed for an accedent.
