Carlos is the founder of the group Kei Tawhiti, found in 1991 .The group "Kei Tawhiti"
- Won 1st prize Amateur in 1993 category traditional (first year for Kei Tawhiti)
- Won 2nd prize professional in 1994 category creation
- Carlos Tuia (owner and founder of Kei Tawhiti) was asked to take in charge of the group Hei Tiare,that won 1st prize Amateur in 1996
