This clip reminds me of that Fox News spoof in the movie "Idiocracy". The reporter's tone is that of a gossip giving the latest dish, not an objective journalist. Why sensationalize the news this way? Isn't the news sensational enough?

Fun intro! Seeing the Cosby cast dance as well as a professional troupe is what makes this hilarious. Reminds me of "What's Opera Doc" because the music in that cartoon is played as straight as any other opera, and what makes it a farce is the fact that Bugs and Elmer are playing the parts.

Wotta jam! If they stretched this out for five minutes, I'd buy the MP3.

The first 45 seconds remind me of "Magic" by Olivia Newton John. The arrangement is similar and the way Valerie phrases "Is this the riiiiiight..." is close to the way Olivia phrases "Come take my hand." That's where the similarities end though. This is definitely a completely different song.

@ninetiesbaby10 Well, it's impossible for Tina Turner to mess up a song no matter how she sings it, but I prefer her original version in all its rawness. It's not as polished as this one, but it's more soulful and thus more powerful.

Brilliant storytelling. The first 50 seconds establishes the seamy banality of the character's life and Tina hasn't even sung a word yet. When Tina finally does come in... Boom. Her voice seals the deal. By the end of the song, I can almost smell the smoke in the dive at which the dancer works.

This is the best Star Trek movie never made.
