The tune of this song is a song from tamil mvie Karuthamma, Porale Ponnuthaayi... its a folk tune... but Rahman has made it sound so different here! He is a genius....

The usage of the shehnai to cover the Hindu marriage style sounds out of place.... In Tamil the nadhaswaram sounds very very apt... There is no mix up in tune for that.. it actually tunes to the "Anandam anandam anandame... " which is sung just after the groom ties the mangalsutra on the girls neck
