i think that the "how do i play the melody of love?" can reflect how Ikuto has matured since the begining cos before he had never been interested any other girl (as Utau pointed out) & now that he was 'interested' in Amu he began 2 fall in love with her. Cos probably this was he's 1st experience. I dont think he thought had time 2 look at girls cos he had 2 b working 4 Easter & defending his family but then Amu became more involved with him so i think he might have thought of helping her too along the way from the shadows.

" A short dream" may refer 2 his short lived childhood
"I carry a painful fever that pierces my chest" may refer 2 the lid that he had put on his feelings after his father left
"This false cross I was burdened with" may refer 2 his contract with Easter & how his stepfather threatened him if Ikuto didnt follow his orders
"I cannot choose the scenario of my fate" may refer 2 Ikuto's fate's been bound 2 Easter

Sorry guys I cant really think much how else 2 interpret this song BUT if any of come up with something then let us know.
Cos I feel that the song is very ambiguos & it tells more about Ikuto BUT like Ikuto is mysterious & complex.
Thats why I like the song
