For my ancestors: Short excerpts of documentaries and music videos celebrating the life and histories of indigenous peoples of the Americas.
About Me:
______________________________
I make videos of American Indian music and excerpts of documentaries for educational purposes with art images found on the internet or from firstpeople.us by artists such as J.D. Challenger, Frank Howell, Kirby Sattler, Howard Terpning, Ray Swanson, Richard Hook, Dustin Lyon, and others. Copyright and ownership of any music or images belong to respective artists and are identified if known. Background image is titled "Night in the Village" by Dustin Lyon. Some art images I use are not so much realistic as they are more romanticized fantasy. My only goal here is to share, educate, and broaden communication of world peace and the oneness of humankind.
I like ambient, chant, and new age music. Much of the music used is not limited to traditional drumming and chants. Most include electronic or modern arrangements. I apologize to any American Indians who are offended by this.

I am a spiritual person and do not follow religious dogma. I find serenity and tranquility in teachings of Jesus, Buddhism, Native American spirituality, and mystic Sufism. I believe in creation - design of the universe and evolution. I read religious books including Torah, Bible, and Quran with an open mind but have not found in them a personal path perfect for me. I'm a free spirit. My faith in a higher power, daily meditation, deeds, and prayers are kept private between me and the universal Creator.

I'm an American with ancestry of Cherokee Indian and European Anglo and celebrate both cultures. I identify most with my Cherokee grandmother and Cherokee ancestors for their cultural, social, ethical and moral values.

I may not agree with my country's leaders, and I despise wars and bloodshed. I can't help that, but I love my country because my spirit is connected to the land of my native ancestors. Manifest Destiny invoked the idea of divine sanction for the territorial expansion of the United States. It is against the Creator to conquer, murder, and steal in the name of God. The ethnic cleansing of American Indians and all indigenous peoples is a stain on mankind that will never wash away. We are standing tall now, and the voices of Indigenous people of both North and South Americas are being heard. It's not yet too late to right the wrongs and begin to heal the hearts and minds of mankind. If we begin now to reverse the damage done to our Earth, She will support and sustain our future generations.

Finally, In 1988, to mark the bicentennial of the U.S.Constitution, Congress passed a joint resolution stating that "the confederation of the original Thirteen Colonies into one republic was influenced by the political system developed by the IROQUOIS CONFEDERACY, as were many of the democratic principles which were incorporated into the Constitution itself." Like five arrows 'bound together, the Iroquois political and literary legacy is entwined forever with the ideals that continue to shape American life.

CHEROKEE TRAVELER'S GREETING
I will draw thorns from your feet.
We will walk the White Path of Life together.
Like a brother of my own blood,
I will love you.
I will wipe tears from your eyes.
When you are sad,
I will put your aching heart to rest.

You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it's a little thing, do something for others - something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.
Albert Schweitzer

The Cherokee are probably the most tragic instance of what could have succeeded in American Indian policy and didn't. All these things that Americans would proudly see as the hallmarks of civilization are going to the West by Indian people. They do everything they were asked except one thing. What the Cherokees ultimately are, they may be Christian, they may be literate, they may have a government like ours, but ultimately they are Indian. And in the end, being Indian is what kills them.
