My interests include North and South American Indians, innocent Palestineans, ecosystem, conservation, deforestation, over fishing, global warming, the millions of oppressed, poor and downtrodden in all the world, animal rights, human kindness and justice.
About Me:

I'm a wife, mother, environmentalist, peace and human rights advocate. I love nature, animals, poetry, art, reading, and good songs that are not offensive to anyone.

I enjoy making music videos of American Indian music for nonprofit and educational purposes using low resolution art images found on the internet and at firstpeople.us by famous artists such as J.D. Challenger, Frank Howell, Kirby Sattler, K. Henderson, Howard Terpning, Ray Swanson, Richard Hook, Dustin Lyon, etc. Copyright and ownership of any music or images used belong to respective artists and are identified if known. The background image is titled "Night in the Village" by Dustin Lyon. Other images I use are not so much realistic as they are more romanticized fantasy, However, I try to avoid the pitfalls of romanticizing American Indians and demonizing the white man. My goal is to spread the message of love and peace for all mankind.
______________________________

I consider myself spiritual rather than religious although I love the teachings of Jesus. I find peace and serenity in the practices of Buddhism and Native American spirituality and also the mysticism of Sufism. I find the Sufi whirling dirvishes are spiritually beautiful. I believe in intelligent design of the universe AND evolution. I do read religious books, the Torah, Bible, and Quran, with an open mind but have not yet found in them my own path that is perfect for me. I am just a free spirit, and my faith, daily meditation, deeds, and prayers are private between me and my Creator.
______________________________

Genetically, I'm an American mix of European Anglo immigrants of English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry and Cherokee Indian. Although, I identify most with my Cherokee grandmother and American Indian ancestors for their cultural, social, ethical and moral values, I am here because of both my European and Cherokee ancestors, and I celebrate both Anglo and Cherokee family cultures.
______________________________

I don't always agree with my country's leaders, and I despise wars. I can't help that, but I am a proud American, and that will never change. Manifest Destiny in the name of Jesus is an evil and wrong concept invented by man and NOT from the Creator. The voices of the native indigenous of both Americas are being heard, and I have hope that it will not be too late to heal the damage done to our beautiful Mother Earth.

Finally, In 1988, to mark the bicentennial of the U.S.Constitution, Congress passed a joint resolution stating that "the confederation of the original Thirteen Colonies into one republic was influenced by the political system developed by the IROQUOIS CONFEDERACY, as were many of the democratic principles which were incorporated into the Constitution itself." Like five arrows 'bound together, the Iroquois political and literary legacy is entwined forever with the ideals that continue to shape American life.

Some people I admire, both past and present are Jesus, Mohammed, Russell Means, Shawnee leader Tecumseh, Albert Einstein, Yusuf Islam, Chief Joseph - Nez Perce, Bob Dylan, Paul and Linda McCartney, George Harrison, Ellen DeGeneres, Robert Redford, Kevin Costner, Leonard Peltier, k.d. lang, Mahatma Gandhi, Sequoyah, the Dalai Lama, Carl Sagan, Lewis and Clark, Sacagawea, Martin Luther King Jr, Isaac Newton, Buddha, Confucius, Galileo, Beethoven, Nelson Mandela, Al Gore, Mother Teresa, Aristotle, Persian poet Rumi, John Trudell and Crazy Horse.

CHEROKEE TRAVELER'S GREETING

I will draw thorns from your feet.
We will walk the White Path of Life together.
Like a brother of my own blood,
I will love you.
I will wipe tears from your eyes.
When you are sad,
I will put your aching heart to rest.

You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it's a little thing, do something for others - something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

Albert Schweitzer

The Cherokee are probably the most tragic instance of what could have succeeded in American Indian policy and didn't. All these things that Americans would proudly see as the hallmarks of civilization are going to the West by Indian people. They do everything they were asked except one thing. What the Cherokees ultimately are, they may be Christian, they may be literate, they may have a government like ours, but ultimately they are Indian. And in the end, being Indian is what kills them.

Hometown:
Turtle Island
Country:
United States
Occupation:
Environmental Technical Specialist in field of environmental toxics and pesticides.
Hobbies:
Watercolor and oil painting and silversmith hobby in Native American jewelry. Enjoy traveling our beautiful world, even if it's only in film. I read a variety of books, web blogs, twitter, and participate in web forums.
Movies:
Documentaries and nature. I support Public Broadcasting System (PBS). Network television is too silly and vulgar and a waste of time in this one life I've got.
Music:
All kinds music of 60's, 70's and some 80's stuff. and music my mother and father liked. All the great "Brittish Invasion" era music. Most of the junk that passes for music today isn't worth buying except for a very select few who sound like the good stuff of 60's and 70's..
Books:
Historical, Geographical, and autobiograpy books or novels and the classics. Les Miserables is my favorite book of all time.

Hi Katy,

Really moved by your channel page, and just spent some considerable time here checking out your videos. I've found them to be first class, and am eager to watch more of them in the future. We seem to have some interests in common, so I thought I'd send you a friend invite. Keep up the great video production work. :-) With love from northern California, Terri (aka: EquuSpirit)
