My mom played this (I think my dad did, too) a lot. It makes me weep because it makes me think of my her and my sister who both died too soon. They weren't saints but I miss them and I love them. I can understand how these three men are missed and loved because they tried to do good for people...

My sister Angel and I used to play this record a lot in the summer of '72 after looking through our parents' stack of records. We liked it so we kept playing it. The other side of the record was "I don't want to spoil the party". Of course, I loved the Beatles way before summer '72.

Best music and lyrics ever written in any genre. I can't say enough good things about this song. It's a masterpiece IMO. I never get tired of listening to this.

Did Todd write this song by himself or did he have help from the members of The Nazz? I know The Nazz recorded it first and that Todd was a member, but was it actually a hit?

@kbfirepagan--You might recall that the Beach Boys' "All Summer Long" features the xylophone in it. Definitely reminesent of summer's sun and fun.

I want to introduce this song to my son who is serving in the army right now. Maybe the song will have a special meaning to him, too, when he gets back from his next deployment. I'm glad Gerry Rafferty wrote this song. One of his best.

Does Margaret Becker write her own songs? Which ones? This song really grows on you. I'm glad I made time to listen to it as I've enjoyed some of her other hits, too.
