About this user

Kathryn Kitchener is 17 years old and from Essex.

She loves to sing anything, but mostly musical theatre, which she has loved for a long time now.

Her favourite musicals include Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Wicked, Oliver, Hairspray, Spring Awakening, the Phantom of the Opera and Starlight Express.

Kathryn hopes to someday be singing in the West End, and is working hard towards this goal.

She has been singing since the age of seven as a hobby and has been having singing lessons for nearly four years with the principle of Step Up Music Theatre School, Nathalie Richardson, which she finds extremely enjoyable and beneficial.

She attends a stageschool called Step Up Music Theatre School, which she really enjoys, and has been involved in many shows as a part of it and has been entered into many competitions by her singing teacher.

These include Festival4Stars where she and William Marsh won the Group Musicals section in 2008 singing 'Suddenly Seymour'. She also won the Talent Search section in the European Festival of Dance and Performing Arts at EuroDisney performing 'As Long As He Needs Me' and won UKUnsigned solo and group musical theatre section two years in a row.

As well as this, she performed live on channel five with Step Up on the show Don't Stop Believing, singing a mash up of Think and Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

As well as her singing, she also takes her school work very seriously, particularly enjoying art, english and music. She is busy with her AS Levels at the moment, but still manages to find time for her singing.

Kathryn also takes singing and musical theatre exams, both group and solo, where she has grade 8 musical theatre group and solo, and a distinction in her advanced performance certificate. She is currently working towards a diploma.

Apart from singing and school work, she really enjoys being with her friends, those from school and who are a part of Step Up. She feels very grateful for all the friends and contacts she has made on youtube, and hopes they will continue to follow her as she pursues her dreams.

Next year Kathryn will be doing a musical theatre degree at the University of West London.
