KARME (Carmelo Caruso) is an Italian singer, keys player, songwriter and producer who recently moved his base to London. He began his music career as a pianist in his hometown, Catania (Sicily), later making a name for himself as a vocalist and keyboard player first in Palermo where he studied jazz, moving to Milan where he produced and promoted his debut EP "Evasioni Prevedibili".This release received a good response from the Italian soul community.
Karme's passion for black music led him to discover jazz-influenced music by bands like Incognito, Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, and also pop artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, Simply Red and Sting. Karme has expanded his musical horizons by taking in other influences rooted in the soul and funk music from the 70s -- such as Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, and James Brown. In fact, the godfather of funk inspired his degree thesis "Funk, Production and Reception of Blackness; James Brown and Parliament Music ".
Over the years KARME, who stands out for his energy and talent, has grown artistically. He has absorbed and reworked his musical influences, creating a catchy melting pot of soul, pop, funk and jazz.
