Call Of Duty & Alizée
Strange Combination, You Say?
Yes, it's definitely unusual.
How could there be any connection between Alizée, who is the queen of French Pop, with Call Of Duty, one of the most popular game franchises in the world? And yet, they are more closely related than most people could have realized, and here is why...
The rights & ownership to the incredibly successful Call Of Duty & Modern Warfare series of games belongs to Activision.
The equally profitable & wildly popular World Of Warcraft games are the creations of Blizzard Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Entertainment.
Now, the obvious link here is that from World Of Warcraft came the WOW Dances, of which the Night Elf Female Dance, modeled after Alizée, is arguably the most popular & well known.
During the summer of 2008, Vivendi spun off Blizzard Entertainment into a merger with Activision, resulting in a new, combined company which is now known as Activision Blizzard Inc.
Activision Blizzard now holds the rights to BOTH World Of Warcraft AND Call Of Duty, while Vivendi Entertainment owns a big chuck (+62%) of Activision Blizzard stock.
Activision Blizzard Inc is listed under symbol ATVI & it trades on the NASDAQ Exchange in the United States.
Oh, and here is where Alizée really fits into the picture...
Vivendi Entertainment also owns Universal Music Group & Polydor Records, the record label which released Alizée's first 2 albums, "Gourmandises," and "Mes Courants Électriques."
So this makes Alizée, WOW, and COD all part of the very same family!
=D
