I am a person who looks at the world through a liberal lens. I believe in giving people the freedom to be themselves. I applaud free speech and a free economy. What I have big issues with is interference from other parties in how people should live their lives and an indifference to humanitarian matters because of counter intuitive priorities. As long as someone isn't subjugating or hurting others through their way of life, then they should be allowed to seek any lifestyle type they desire. Because of this view, I'm usually at odds with organised religion simply because it has put itself on a pedestal which grants itself the right to tell others how to live their lives. It empowers its followers to justify actions of insanity and hypocrisy in its name under the knowledge they are protected by it. It is this practice which holds back the advancement of humanity and it is this practice I seek out and actively oppose with knowledge, science and logic either in person, or on the internet. I will always stay polite and cordial when debating with religious people. One cannot be convincing when angry. I will also never create situations requiring religious debate unless others wish it. Obsessions are counter-productive.
In my opinion, the belief in a 'common creator' isn't a silly proposition at all. It's probably quite logical to assume something must have created everything, or at least, initiated a creation process. This is, however, an unknowable element as our brains cannot comprehend infinity or 'before time'. I mean, what happened before the big bang? We don't know, but at least science can say "i don't know". Besides, science is far more likely to eventually understand these types of fundamental questions. Religion, by its very nature, is insular, non-progressive and an intellectual dead end.
For religion to claim rights to *insert any demented belief here* and then act on those beliefs is one of the most terrifying concepts humanity has to offer.
Other than the above conversation piece, I lead a normal life in the UK with similar interests to most other people. I have a huge love of science and science fiction and I play lots of computer games. I drink beer with my mates and enjoy cooking and eating delicious food. Cats are brilliant (as are some dogs). Cheezburger is one of the best YT channels :)

-MARTIAL KITCHEN-
Perhaps if enough of us, naively roll these stones up enough hill and watch them roll back down again, this Sisyphus job will finally pay off... Or maybe I am kidding myself.
