I love both guys, but Pete Rock and J Dilla have next to nothing in common musically. Dilla sounded a little like him at first but changed up his style and went in an alternative Hip Hop direction while Pete Rock went in his own direction too.

Love this instrumental. One of Pete's finest. They should have got Nas, AZ, Immortal Technique or someone like that to rhyme over this beat. Makes me feel like I'm in a horror movie taking place in the Bronx.

3rd greatest song ever behind The World Is Yours and I Used To Love H.E.R. The beat is incredible and C.L. Smooth's storytelling is incredible too. If you hate this song because it's a rap song then you are just a cousin fucking racist.

One of Jay-Z's most underrated songs. I think that American Gangster is his 3rd best album right behind The Blueprint with the Black Album right behind it. Worst decision Jay-Z has ever made is not including The Hitmen and Jermaine Dupri on Blueprint 3 after this classic album.
