About Me:
Hydrocephalus is greek. Hydro meaning water and cephalus meaning head. Basically it is built up cerebal spinal fluid (CSF) in the fluid filled spaces of your brain known as ventricals. In Kadyn's case, he was born with congenital hydrocephlaus and it is cause from aqueductal stenosis. Which basically means there is a blockage or lack there of a channel that lets the CSF flow normally. In newborns, the childs head will get larger as fluid builds up. That is why Kadyn's head is so large. Kadyn has since grown into his head.
I made videos of my son to educate people in his condtion. It is one of the most common birth defects and it is a life long condition as there is no cure but only treatment with brain surgery to place a shunt. Shunt is basically a fancy medical term for a drain. There are many different kinds of shunts, but I'll just tell you what kind of shunt kadyn has. He has was is known as a Ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VP shunt) Basically his shunt goes from the ventricals in his brain, then through the skin down into the perinatal cavity. The fluid flows down this tube and gets reabsorbed back into the body.

I want to meet more people that already been through this..
