Fill and launch of CNSP-11 (K6RPT-11) that crossed USA and Atlantic Ocean. Launch point was San Jose, CA (Precision Tune Auto Care at hwy 85 and Almaden Expwy), landing was Mediterranean Sea about 66 miles north of Algeria. CNSP-11 makes Transcontinental Transatlantic International Flight of 6,236 miles.
Payload shown in early in video was the second payload (K6RPT-14) but K6RPT-11 looks the same. This is a basic edit, no special effects, titles, theme music, etc. but you can see overall procedure. And we had larger attendance as this was late Sunday afternoon (12-11-11), most launches are done very early morning. Thanks to Faro of Precision Tune Auto Care for providing garage for fill.

Recovery of K6RPT-12, this was the second floater (last of four launched Sunday afternoon), it came down in Indiana (it did not "crash-land"). I will upload footage of the launch later. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?se...
There was another transcontinential/transatlantic balloon launched from southern California, callsign NG0X-2, however, it was not heard since Dec 12 23:05Z, map at http://aprs.fi/?call=ng0x-2&mt=roadma...

Richard Elkus spent the first decade of his career at Ampex Corporation. As manager of the Educational and Industrial Products Division he wrote the original product plan for the home video recorder and headed the team that introduced the VCR to the world in 1970.
In 2010 he was inducted into the Silicon Valley Engineering Council Hall of Fame and gave this brief talk. Elkus discussed development of a video cassette recorder, what could have been and what resulted nearly four decades later. Audio is little distorted but Richard Elkus gives interesting insight, you must pay attention to what he says in regards to the "next killer app."
This clip is part of the 2010 Engineers Week Banquet held at Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, CA on Feb 18, 2010.
Elkus authored the book, "Winner Take All: How Competitiveness Shapes the Fate of Nations" which is available from Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Winner-Take-All...

SJSU Robotics Club brought their line follower for a demo at 2011 SVEC Open House. These students also assisted in hosting Silicon Valley Engineering Council Open House at SEMI in San Jose, CA on Nov 17, 2011. Here is Daniel Teran, Luat Nguyen, Udit Manocha, and Killol Acharya.
This is not an off-the-shelf product. It had to be designed, built, software written, and tested (with some all-nighters as well). Then comes the moment when it had to work as there were over 200 people (including PhD engineers) in attendance at this event.
Build. Learn. Share. The goal of the Robotics Club is to bring about a community of students interested in robotics, autonomous systems, mechatronics and other engineering fields of interest. Sgt. Richard F. Murphy, WWII and Korean War vet, key person of United Veterans Council, and designated lead in Pledge of Allegiance for all Veterans Day parades and Memorial Day ceremonies.
Richard F. Murphy passed peacefully and quietly at home on Sunday, 21 August 2011. Some of his family members were with him when he passed.
He was a long-time member of Chapter 1379 Air Force Sergeants Association, and American Legion Post 89. He was a past president of the Santa Clara County United Veterans Council. He was an avid union advocate and held various positions, including that of President, in his union local. He will be greatly missed by many.
Murph has a good loud voice because he never smoked and drank very little alcohol. Part way through Murph coughs, lack of water, but later get water from Red Cross people that provide these resources for those working the parade. However, his delivery of the Pledge of Allegiance was always clear and spot on.
Sgt Murph describes being a low pressure chamber operator training airmen for high altitude flying (precurser to aviation physiological flight training such as FAA Civil Aerospace Medical Institute, link below) and later working in a squadron rescuing those downed behind enemy lines in Korea (predecessor to pilot rescue outfits such as the 129 Rescue Wing, http://www.129rqw.ang.af.mil/ )
Murph also describes when US Air Force was formed in 1947. Plus visiting the new aircraft carrier Roosevelt when it docked in Libya and when sailors were issued liberty cards (package that also includes condoms that were never used) and later observed the US Marines marching on the shores of Tripoli.
Sgt. Murphy is presented at http://www.digiclub.org/sofs/index.ph... on "Stories of Service" by Digital Clubhouse Network.
