Geboren 1952 in Celje. Er besuchte die technische Hochschule in Maribor. Von 1979 bis 1981 lebte er als Maler und Graphiker in Chicago und Carmel in den USA, danach studierte er Malerei an der Universität von Hawaii. Jure Cekuta hatte zahlreiche Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen im In- und Ausland und nahm an Bildhauersymposien in Slowenien, Österreich , Deutschland, USA, teil.
Jure Cekutas Malerei, in der er kräftige Grundfarben verwendet, ist von starker Symbolik geprägt. In den flächenbetonten Bildern erscheinen Figuren und menschliche Gesichter, Blumen- und Flaschenformen. Der vielzitierte Apfel wurde in den letzten Arbeiten zum Markenzeichen von Jure Cekuta. Since 2003, Jure Cekuta is occupied with studies of master of science by Prof. Đuričković , M.Sc. In Nov. 2007 he defend a title Magister of art. 2008 he applied for P.H.D. on FACULTY OF APLIED ARTS AND DESIGN BEOGRAD.

JURE J. CEKUTA
Was born in 1952 in Celje. Attended technical college in Maribor. 1979 -- 1981 worked as painter and graphic artist in Chicago and Carmel, IL, USA. 1982 studied painting at the University of Hawaii.
Numerous solo, (over 200) and group exhibitions in his native land and abroad, participated in Art symposiums in Slovenia, Germany, USA, Spain and Austria.
Jure Cekuta uses strong fundamental colours in his paintings which are also permeated by a strong sense of symbolism. Human figures and faces, flowers, and bottle shaped images appear in his pictures. The often quoted apple has become a logo for Jure Cekuta in his recent work.
