Looking at this and other videos, I would say that Roland has aged gracefully, while Curt looks like he's at death's door.

You know - I used to just love this song, this version. Listening to it after a long gap in time, I realize what a good song it is, but what a very weak voice she has. It just doesn't do it for me anymore.

I've heard a lot of versions and covers: live, sort of live, tributes, etc, etc. I don't think any come close to this studio version. What a beautiful, beautiful, sad song.

I agree that The Band's version is the benchmark. Compared to it I find this version insipid - no real feeling for the pathos involved in that event. I've heard amateur groups cover this with far more of the feeling necessary to convey what a tragedy this was.

"Hambone" beat is a Diddley trademark, but the vocal is, without a doubt, Johnny Otis. Bo's vocals sound nothing at all like this.
