About Me:
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, The Necessity of Atheism
" Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon, than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and, for my part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel". - ~Thomas Paine - Age Of Reason
"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."
~Albert Einstein, "Religion and Science," New York Times Magazine, November 9, 1930
"If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed. The further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge. ... "
~Albert Einstein, quoted in: All the Questions You Ever Wanted to Ask American Atheists, by Madalyn Murray O'Hair

For me, to believe in any of the gods that we have believed and worshipped since the dawn of man is to become guilty of all the death and suffering that has been allowed in Their names. Truly, humanity IS guilty of all of this...our biggest sin being that we have arrogantly, dogmatically and irreverently decided what god is and destroy each other based on our own ideologies.
Will we continue to hang on so tightly to our beliefs that we self destruct or will we determine that beliefs are not worth our lives before it's too late?
Right now, there is a little boy somewhere in Iraq being taught to hate because of his mother's belief. They are sacrificing their own children for their belief! What are you willing to do for your belief?
There is nothing here that can prove ANY god except what WE DO in their names. I am not against any god, in particular, I am against religion. If we created god and god is, as He should be, on trial, then it is WE that are on trial.
I don't ask that you give up your beliefs but that you give up your religion. I don't speak out for any other reason than to implore ALL of us to THINK about what we're believing and how that affects ALL OF US.
In foolishly continuing to conclude that giving up our beliefs in our gods is the same as giving up on our hope, we perpetuate the death and suffering of humanity and, at very least, the frustration of not knowing who we are.
Doesn't our addiction to these beliefs ironically replace the peace we all hope for in the first place? Hope is only in vain when we base it on the very addiction that causes our hopelessness.
IF there is a god above all gods maybe the idea is freewill to worship any god we concoct so that we kill each other in the
names of our gods rendering our gods AND ourselves guilty. Maybe the idea is to teach us that NO god we create, as They ARE us,
is worthy of worship and on THAT DAY ONLY can we have peace. Maybe on THAT DAY we will BECOME gods because we will have then proven our own righteousness by reaching a level of knowledge necessary for deciphering the mysterious lesson of life and by placing love for each other above ALL else.
Those were my thoughts after watching God On Trial Part 1 of 9 I sincerly hope that you watch and consider it yourself. Start with part 4 if you're short on time.

It seems that even though Christianity has some many sects and everyone claims that the other are not true Christians: the Christians all agree that as soon as we declare ourselves atheists, we don't need to describe ourselves, atheism does the job for us, we are all the same evil trash, equal to Stalin, even if we have no book, no dogma, no congregations, no daily studying and worshiping, no media etc.
"saintpine has been blocked because of his profane language. I will not tolerate it!"
She didn't like the word "BULLSHIT".
Could you please let her know that her own chart she linked debunks her claims, it says clearly:
Much of the increase in the number of hazardous events reported is probably due to significant improvements in information access and also population growth.
