Of course eating meat is justified if that is your only food source. The moral dilemma comes into play when we have many plant-based food choices and we are still choosing to take a life for our taste buds? Our omnivorism means we're capable of eating meat (useful from a survival standpoint if that's all that's available), but our bodies aren't geared for it to be a normal, significant part of our diets.
