Born in Hong Kong, pianist Judy Lam has appeared in recitals as a soloist and collaborative pianist in Hong Kong, Austria, and the United States. She was a first-prize winner in the Advanced Section of the Swayder Hong Kong Children and Youth Piano Competition in 2008. She also won the Gold prize in the Piano Open Section of the International Music and Arts Competition by the Hong Kong Chinese Arts Festival and was invited to perform during the prize presentation ceremony in the same year.Ms Lam began her piano study at the age of five; from 1992 onwards she studied with Lok-on Lee, and has since won prizes in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. Awarded the Singapore Government Scholarship, she studied in Anglo-Chinese Junior College, where she was an active member of the Music Elective Program, while studying piano with Timothy Ku. She was also a flutist in the College Concert Band, in which she participated in the Fourth Alpine Winds Festival in the Switzerland, where the band was awarded the Bronze Medal.
While majoring in Economics and Finance at The University of Hong Kong, Ms Lam received piano training with Kinwai Shum. Having been awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in piano performance, she studied piano further at University of Miami with Paul Posnak and Tian Ying, leading to her masters degree in music. While attending the University of Miami, she was awarded the Music Scholarship and the Scholarship from the Accompanying Endowment, and was also elected by the faculty to the Pi Kappa Lambda, the national Music Honor Society, USA.
