Beyond Reasonable Drought
He was inducted into the Hands of Fame in Tamworth in 1994 and was named Victorian Country Entertainer of the Year in 1996. Until now, JR Williams was forced to put his love of music into the background while fighting the worst drought his family farm has ever seen. Like many Australian farmers JR did it tough working his land near Echuca, Vic
During this time though he tried to stay in touch with music as much as possible, he recorded a duet with Renee Stewart and in 2007 when the Victorian Government decided to build a pipeline and pipe water from the north of the state away from the struggling farmers who where battle ling drought and water shortages and send it to Melbourne he wrote and recorded Who Gives A Stuff About The Farmer supporting his fellow farming friends, a song that received a lot of attention throughout Victoria
Now hes ready to take on the country music scene like never before.
Known for his long running radio show, JRs Country, which can be heard across 3 states, JR had success with a number of singles early in his career, including a duet with Kasey Chambers The Losin Side of Love from his most popular album Back on the Border produced by legendary Nash Chambers.
Born and raised in the country, it is probably his intimate daily contact with the land that gives JR his ability to relate so well to his large following, on what seems an almost person to person level. One of the finest hard working performers in the industry JR is at his best in front of a crowd, what you see with him is what you get.
From the mid 80's to early 90's JR produced a range of singles and albums. Keeping up appearances, JR was one of the resident team of Country Performers who entertained passengers on the Country Music Train each year on route to the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
In 2009 JR decided it was time to make some tough decisions. The dairy herd was sold and his focus was back to his love of music. After a trip north! with Bill Chambers, a group of Australia's best country musicians and a handful of great songs were carefully selected and a long awaited album was born.
JR knows that life is ever changing like the seasons, and because music and nature are in natural harmony it is important to be always changing as an entertainer.
The first single, Ill Be in Sydney Tonight released 22nd March.
Mustering Time, set to be one of the most anticipated country albums released in 2010!
